General description

66 kDa
TRF2は広範に発現されているタンパク質で、テロメア長の制御に関与しています。TRF2は、TRF1と同様、Myb関連DNA結合もチーフを持ちます。二重TTAGGGリピートに結合し、M期染色体のすべてのヒトテロメアに局在します。TRF2は、テロメア終端で正しい構造を維持することで染色体末端を保護していると考えられています。TRF2の変異型の使用により、ヒト初代細胞の老化の予防におけるTRF2の役割が示唆されています。最近、哺乳類細胞型のサブセットにおいてTRF2の阻害によりアポトーシスが引き起こされたことが確認されました。TRF2は、多数のヒト腫瘍で過剰発現されており、TRF2の過剰発現は、がん発生のマウスモデルにおいて発がん性があることが明らかになっています。
