General description
Native alkaline phosphatase from human placenta. Homodimeric enzyme that hydrolyzes phosphate esters of primary and secondary alcohols, amines, and phenols. Useful in the hydrolysis of 5′-terminal phosphates of DNA and RNA. Active site contains a reactive serine.

In 10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM MgCl₂, 0.1 mM ZnCl₂, 50% glycerol, pH 7.6.
