General description

γ-アミノ酪酸（GABA）は、哺乳類中枢神経系における主な抑制性神経伝達物質です。GABAは、イオンチャネル型[GABA(A/C)]受容体を介してその作用を発揮して、速いシナプス抑制を発生させ、代謝型[GABA(B)]受容体を介して遅い持続的な抑制性シグナルを発生させます。GABA(B)受容体は、2つの関連する7回膜貫通型受容体であるGABA(B)受容体1とGABA(B)受容体2のヘテロ二量体で構成されています。GABA(B)受容体1遺伝子は、HLA-F遺伝子に近いHLAクラスI領域内で染色体6p21.3上にマッピングされます。多発性硬化症、てんかん、統合失調症の感受性遺伝子座も、この領域にマッピングされています。この遺伝子のオルタナティブスプライシングにより4つの転写バリアントが得られます。
