Single-Use Mixers

Mobius® single-use mixers efficiently blend pharmaceutical ingredients and prepare process solutions like buffers and media. Unlike traditional stainless-steel mixers which require downtime for cleaning processes, Mobius® single-use mixers minimize it with uncompromised mix quality. Ranging from 10 to 3000 L, they are designed to meet the broadest range of requirements. For Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) manufacturing, the Mobius® ADC Reactor is specifically designed for the key bioconjugation step.

Control boxes
Mobius® mixers and Mobius® ADC Reactor can be monitored and controlled locally or remotely with the Ready to Connect control box. For Mobius® MIX and Power MIX, the smart control box with Common Control Platform® (CCP®) enables remote monitoring of critical process parameters and supplies advanced process control during mixing operations.
Single-use mixing bags
Single-use mixing bags are made either with Ultimus® or with PureFlex™ films. The PureFlex™ family of single-use process container films are high purity, medical grade and coextruded to provide strength, flexibility, excellent gas barrier performance, and inert contact. The Ultimus® Film was designed for your more challenging single-use bioprocessing liquid applications, increasing durability while maintaining the ease of handling, flexibility, and conformity that single-use bioprocessing demands.
Bioprocessing development expertise and support
We bring together bioprocessing expertise, manufacturing technologies, and global infrastructure to support your process development and manufacturing needs, including cell culture, media and buffer preparation, and bioconjugation optimization. Our MSAT and Investment Projects teams support end-to-end facility design and implementation.
Frequently asked questions
What is a single-use mixer and how does it work?
A single-use mixer consists of a rigid reusable tank that houses a disposable bag containing the product to be blended. Mixing is achieved with a disposable impeller inside the bag, driven by a motor.
What are the key benefits of using single-use mixers compared to traditional reusable systems?
There are many benefits that single-use mixers bring:
- Eliminates CIP/SIP (Cleaning In Place/Sanitization In Place) and reduces cleaning-validation effort.
- Lowers cross-contamination risk with disposable components.
- Enables faster changeovers and higher throughput.
- Provides consistent, validated performance and easier documentation.
- Improves capital efficiency and supply-chain flexibility.
What blending capabilities do single-use mixers offer?
Single-use mixers can handle both liquid–liquid and solid–liquid blending like powder dissolution. They support low-shear mixing to preserve sensitive product quality and can accommodate higher-viscosity liquids.
Why do I need a specific mixer for ADCs?
A dedicated mixer for Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs) is important because ADCs are highly sensitive biologics. Key reasons:
- Gentle, low-shear mixing to prevent protein unfolding/aggregation and preserve antibody integrity.
- Compatible materials and seals to avoid leachables that could affect conjugates or toxicity.
- Strict aseptic/sterile and closed-system operation to minimize contamination and exposure.
- Precise temperature control during heating and cooling to maintain stability during processing.
- Cleaning, validation, and GMP compliance to prevent cross-contamination between batches.

How can I track process parameters in a single-use mixer?
You can monitor in real time via in-line speed, temperature, weight, pH and conductivity sensors, or perform off-line checks using NovaSeptum® SURe Assemblies sampling solution.
