Application
Albumin was used to test its effect on the in vitro bactericidal activity of cefditoren against penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumonia. It has been clinically used in serious and often life-threatening conditions, such as shock and blood loss due to trauma, burns, and surgery.
Albumin was used to study albumin-induced apoptosis in proximal tubule cells. It was also used in cell adhesion molecules and surface treatment studies.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Albumins are soluble monomeric proteins found in the body fluids and tissues of animals and in some plant seeds. Serum albumin functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones. Serum albumins are also vital in regulating the colloidal osmotic pressures of blood.
Serum albumin functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and is vital in regulating the colloidal osmotic pressures of blood. Albumin can also bind to exogenous substances, particularly drugs (e.g., ibuprofen, warfarin), and strongly influences their pharmacokinetics. Oxidative stress leading to changes in the redox state of albumin has varied effects on its physiological function.

In this work, the various biological activities of eight organoruthenium(II) complexes were evaluated to reveal correlations with their stability and reactivity in aqueous media. Complexes with general formula [Ru(η6-p-cymene)(X,Y)(Z)] were prepared, where (X,Y) represents either an O,O-ligand (β-diketone), N,O-ligand (8-hydroxyquinoline)

Copper(II) complexes of thiosemicarbazones (TSCs) often exhibit anticancer properties, and their pharmacokinetic behavior can be affected by their interaction with blood transport proteins. Hydrophobically derivatized hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG)-polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymers bearing stearoyl chains (HPG-C18-PEG) were originally developed as human serum albumin substitutes and further as a unimolecular drug delivery system.
