General description
EPPS, also known as 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine-1-propanesulfonic acid, is a zwitterionic buffering agent that belongs to the group of good buffers. It plays a vital role in maintaining a stable pH in solutions, which is critical for various biological and biochemical processes. EPPS buffer finds extensive application in biological research and cell culture experiments.
Application
EPPS buffer has been used as a component of buffer solution for methylglyoxal (MG) treatment in vitro to form advanced glycation end products (AGEs) to crosslink collagen fibrils. It has also been used in the preparation of fixation buffer solution for light microscopy.
