General description
ฮฒ-NGF is a neurotrophic factor structurally related to BDNF, NT-3 and NT-4. These proteins belong to the cysteine-knot family of growth factors that assume stable dimeric structures. ฮฒ-NGF is a potent neurotrophic factor that signals through its receptor ฮฒ-NGFR, and plays a crucial role in the development and preservation of the sensory and sympathetic nervous systems. ฮฒ-NGF also acts as a growth and differentiation factor for B lymphocytes and enhances B-cell survival. The functional form of human ฮฒ-NGF is a noncovalently disulfide-linked homodimer, of two 13.5 kDa polypeptide monomers (240 total amino acid residues). The three disulfide bonds are required for biological activity.
Application
ฮฒ NGF human has been used in immunohistochemistry.
Biochem/physiol Actions
ฮฒ-NGF is a neurotrophic factor structurally related to BDNF, NT-3 and NT-4. The functional form of human b-NGF is a noncovalently disulfide-linked homodimer, of two 13.5 kDa polypeptide monomers (240 total amino acid residues). The three disulfide bonds are required for biological activity.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 ฮผm filtered solution containing0.1% Trifluoroacetic Acid (TFA)
Preparation Note
Sterile water at 0.1 mg/mLCentrifuge vial before opening. Suspend the product by gently pipetting the above recommended solution down the sides of the vial. DO NOT VORTEX. Allow several minutes for complete reconstitution. For prolonged storage, dilute to working aliquots in a 0.1% BSA solution, store at -80ยฐC, and avoid repeat freeze thaws.
