General description

Butylparaben is a compound, which belongs to the class of parabens.
Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards.
This compound is listed in the SVHC (Substances of very high concern) candidate list of ECHA (European Chemicals Agency)

Application

Butylparaben may be used as a reference standard for the determination of the analyte in cosmetics, food samples and human breast cancerous tissue by chromatography techniques.
Butylparaben may be used as an internal standard in the analysis of aspirin and warfarin in pharmaceutical formulations using reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC).
These Secondary Standards are qualified as Certified Reference Materials. These are suitable for use in several analytical applications including but not limited to pharma release testing, pharma method development for qualitative and quantitative analyses, food and beverage quality control testing, and other calibration requirements.

Analysis Note

These secondary standards offer multi-traceability to the USP and EP (PhEur) primary standards, where they are available.

In this paper we describe the synthesis, characterisation and use of two distinct molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) prepared using esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid (parabens) as templates: one MIP was synthesised by precipitation polymerisation using a semi-covalent molecularly imprinting strategy with
