General description

BMP2 (bone morphogenetic protein 2) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 20p12.3. The encoded protein belongs to transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ) superfamily. BMP-2 is expressed in heart, lung, and dorsal aorta.
The Human BMP-2 ( Bone morphogenetic proteins-2) ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human BMP-2 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.

Immunogen

Recombinant Human BMP2

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Human BMP2 (bone morphogenetic protein 2) ELISA kit has been used for measuring concentrations of BMP in conditioned mouse organoid media.
Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

BMP2 (bone morphogenetic protein 2) plays a vital role in the activation of the autonomic lineage-specific basic–helix-loop-helix protein MASH1 (mammalian achaete scute homolog-1) and in the autonomic neurogenesis in neural crest stem cells in vitro. During bone repair, BMP-2 controls the expression of Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) and Osterix (Osx), thereby enhancing migration, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells. In addition to its osteogenic activity, BMP-2 also plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis. Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) plays an essential role in pathogenesis of oral squamous cell carcinomas. Mutation in BMP-2 gene is associated with osteoporosis.
