General description
DEPTOR (DEPDC6, DEP domain-containing protein 6) was recently identified as a novel mTOR-interacting protein whose over-expression in certain cell types represents a new mechanism for activating PI3K/Akt signaling and promoting cell survival. DEPTOR negatively regulates mTORC1 and mTORC2. It has been shown that loss of DEPTOR activates various targets that include p70S6K1, Akt, and SGK1, that leads to cell growth and survival. Little was known about DEPDC6 prior to the discovery of its interactions with mTOR, at which time it was given the new name of DEPTOR (Peterson, T.R., et al. (2009). Cell. 137(5):873-876).
~46 kDa observed.

The identification of cancer-associated mutations in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle enzymes isocitrate dehydrogenases 1 and 2 (IDH1/2) highlights the prevailing notion that aberrant metabolic function can contribute to carcinogenesis. IDH1/2 normally catalyse the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate into α-ketoglutarate

Cancer cachexia occurs in approximately 80% of cancer patients and is a key contributor to cancer-related death. The mechanisms controlling development of tumour-induced muscle wasting are not fully elucidated. Specifically, the progression and development of cancer cachexia are underexplored. Therefore
