General description
この遺伝子の産物は、インテグリンα鎖ファミリーに属しています。インテグリンは、α鎖とβ鎖で構成されるヘテロ二量体膜内在性タンパク質です。この遺伝子は、インテグリンαV鎖をコードしています。α鎖Vは、細胞外ドメインで翻訳後切断を受けて、ジスルフィド結合でつながった軽鎖と重鎖が得られ、これがβ1と結合してフィブロネクチン受容体を形成します。接着の他にも、インテグリンは細胞表面媒介シグナル伝達に関与していることが知られています。
