      Background InformationCALCRL is the cell membrane receptor for the calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP) together with RAMP1 (receptor activity modifying protein 1). CALCRL is also the adrenomedullin receptor but only in association with RAMP3. RAMPs are required to transport calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CALCRL) to the plasma membrane. The CALCRL associated receptors are G-protein coupled receptors expressed in the lung and heart tissues.
