Hexane is an alkane and a colorless, flammable liquid that can be obtained from petroleum through distillation. It is a non-polar organic solvent, making it very effective for dissolving and isolating fats and oils. This property makes hexane invaluable in various industrial and laboratory applications.

  • Solvent in the detection of rubrene, using normal phase high performance liquid chromatography.
  • an extraction solvent to concentrate the analytes like synthetic cannabinoids of the aminoalkylindole type and methanandamide in serum, followed by separation using liquid chromatography coupled with tandem-mass spectrometry.
  • most efficient solvent mixture for lipid extraction from dry and wet biomass of Chlorella vulgaris.
