Application

Los adyuvantes de Freund pueden utilizarse para producir emulsiones de inmunógenos de agua en aceite. Los antígenos en emulsiones de agua en aceite estimulan respuestas de anticuerpos grandes y duraderas que pueden atribuirse a la lenta liberación del antígeno.
Los antígenos (preferiblemente en disolución salina) suelen mezclarse con un volumen igual del adyuvante para formar una emulsión.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Las micobacterias en adyuvante completo de Freund atraen a los macrófagos y a otras células al lugar de la inyección, lo que potencia la respuesta inmunitaria. Por esta razón, se utiliza el ayudante completo de Freund para las inyecciones iniciales y el adyuvante incompleto de Freund para los refuerzos posteriores.

General description

Cada ml de adyuvante de Freund completo contiene 1 mg de  Mycobacterium tuberculosis  (H37Ra, ATCC 25177) termoinactivado y seco, 0,85 ml de aceite de parafina y 0,15 ml de monooleato de manida.
