DescriptionImmunoaffinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~30 kDa ANT2 protein.
BackgroundAdenine nucleotide translocase (ANT) mediates the exchange of ADP and ATP on the inner mitochondrial membrane of cells. There are four ANT proteins present in humans (ANT1-ANT4) encoded by closely related genes that belong to the mitochondrial carrier family. The ANT isoforms are expressed in a tissue- and developmental-specific manner. ANT is reported to be a major component of the permeability transition pore (PTP) that can mediate mitochodrial membrane polarization (MMP) and cell death of cancer cells. Purified ANT inserted into membranes can form nonspecific pores in response to multiple proapoptotic compounds.
