The pIEx™-3 Ek/LIC Vector is designed to allow rapid, high-level protein expression in insect cells without the time-consuming process of creating a recombinant baculovirus. This vector features the hr5 enhancer and the IE1 (immediate early) promoter to direct expression in insect cells. This promoter/enhancer combination recruits endogenous insect cell transcription machinery, thereby avoiding baculovirus infection and the associated cytotoxic effects. The vector encodes the adipokinetic hormone (AKH) signal sequence, designed for highly efficient secretion of the target protein. Cloning sites are available for producing fusion proteins containing GST•Tag™ for potential enhanced solubility, detection, purification and quantification as well as His•Tag® and S•Tag™ sequences for detection, purification, and quantification. All N-terminal tags are cleavable. A C-terminal HSV•Tag® sequence serves as a cloning option to permit detection of target protein with the HSV•Tag Monoclonal Antibody.
