Full Length, recombinant, human pro-SUMO-2 expressed in E. coli. SUMOylation results in altered subcellular localization of target proteins involved in cell cycle, transcription, cell death, and stress response, as well as membrane-associated receptors, and viral proteins. Pro-SUMOs are processed by SENPs (endopeptidase cleavage) to remove short C-terminal extensions revealing the Gly-Gly motif that is essential for substrate conjugation to target proteins. Pro-SUMO-2 (95 amino acids) is the inactive precursor of SUMO-2 (93 amino acids) and is processed at the C-terminus by SENPs. The protein can be used as a substrate for SENPs or as a negative control in sumoylation reactions.
