This application note compares desalting via continuous diafiltration (as provided by the Amicon® Stirred Cell) with discontinuous diafiltration. Starting with a solution containing concentrated bovine serum albumin in 1 M NaCl, both methods were applied to reduce the salt concentration by 99%. The application note also demonstrates the utility of a setup in which the stirred cell is connected to the reservoir and selector valve accessories.
