      DescriptionMouse monoclonal antibody supplied as undiluted ascites. Recognizes the αIIb integrin chain.
      BackgroundThe integrins are a family of more than 23 heterodimeric transmembrane proteins that mediate cell-cell adhesions as well as cell-substratum adhesions and signal transduction processes. Integrins are heterodimers consisting of noncovalently associated α and β subunits. CD41 consists of two disulfide-linked subunits, GPIIba and GPIIbb. CD41 non-covalently associates with CD61 (integrin β3) and is expressed by megakaryocytes and platelets. The CD41/CD61 complex acts as a receptor for such adhesive ligands as fibronectin, fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor during platelet stimulation.
