Application

DPX Mountant for histology is suitable for use as a slide mountant to fix sections. It serves as a mounting media for viewing slides with H&E (Hematoxylin-Eosin), Nissl staining, and Masson-Goldner stained samples.DPX Mountant for histology has been used for:
  • Hematoxylin and Eosin Staining to view the overall muscle structure
  • immunohistochemical analysis and visualization Ki-67 and Bcl-2 expression levels in cardiomyocytes, cardiac fibroblasts, and vascular endothelial cells of heart tissue
  • -preserving immunostained brain sections on gelatin-coated slides after histological processing, ensuring clear visualization of target proteins such as tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and neuronal nuclei (NeuN) during microscopy analysis
  • preserving mount histological sections, such as those from cerebella stained with hematoxylin-eosin or cresyl violet

General description

DPX (Distyrene, Plasticizer, and Xylene) is a widely utilized mounting medium for immunohistology, specifically designed to be compatible with various detection methods. Introduced in 1939, DPX has become the routine mountant of choice due to its effectiveness in preserving histological stains and providing clear visualization of tissue samples. This mounting medium is a mixture of distyrene (a polystyrene), a plasticizer (initially tricresyl phosphate, now modified to dibutyl phthalate), and xylene, making it a versatile option for histological applications.
