Amygdalin, a cyanide containing glycoside, may be used as a substrate to identify, differentiate and characterize enzymes such as maltase(s), emulsin(s) and β-glucosidase(s).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Glycoside cyanogène présent dans les noyaux d′amandes amères et d′abricots. Il n′existe pas de preuves scientifiques indiquant que l′amygdaline elle-même est un agent anti-cancéreux efficace. Des études récentes utilisant le β−glucoside lié à un anticorps monoclonal ciblant une protéine associée au cancer pour libérer du cyanure au niveau des cellules tumorales ont mentionné une cytotoxicité mesurable.
