Biochem/physiol Actions

ALK-1 is a type I complex of the serine/threonine kinases. Type I and II receptors bind ligands in the TGF-β superfamily. Human and mouse ALK-1 share approximately 71% amino acid sequence identity in their extracellular domains.
Type I complex of the serine/threonine kinases; bind ligands in the TGF-β superfamily.

Germ line mutations in one of two distinct genes, endoglin or ALK-1, cause hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), an autosomal dominant disorder of localized angiodysplasia. Both genes encode endothelial cell receptors for the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) ligand superfamily. Endoglin
