Gene Information

human ... FLT3LG(2323)

Biochem/physiol Actions

FLT3LG (Fms-related tyrosine kinase 3 ligand) is a hematopoietic growth factor. It plays a significant role in the development of myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells. It is also involved in the expansion of Treg (T regulatory) cells, thereby offering treatment for autoimmune disorders and transplantation processes. FLT3LG is associated with autoimmune arthritis, for instance rheumatoid arthritis and primary Sjogren′s syndrome. FLT3LG along with FLT3 is involved in the proliferation of primary AML (acute myeloid leukemia) blasts and autocrine signaling in AML.

General description

FLT3LG (Fms-related tyrosine kinase 3 ligand) is a transmembrane glycoprotein and a ligand for FLT3 receptor. It is widely expressed in human tissues. The protein exists in membrane bound as well as secreted forms. Binding of FLT3LG to FLT3 results in receptor dimerization, activation of the tyrosine kinase domain, autophosphorylation and thereby activation of the receptor. Recombinant human Flt3-Ligand is a soluble 17.6kDa protein consisting of 155 amino acid residues.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a sterile (0.2 micron) filtered aqueous solution containing 10 mM sodium phosphate, 50 mM NaCl, pH 7.5

Preparation Note

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a stabilizer (example 5% Trehalose) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
