Bioburden Testing of Non-Sterile Products

For bioburden testing of raw materials, water and end products, Merck provides ready-to-use and dehydrated culture media prepared according to the corresponding harmonized methods of the European, US and Japanese Pharmacopeias.

Culture media based on Casein Soy Bean Digest or Sabouraud Dextrose are recommended for the microbial enumeration tests (TAMC, total aerobic microbial count; TYMC, total yeast/ mold count). Merck’s ready-to-use TAMC and TYMC media range comprises:

Solid Culture Media

• in 90 mm LI (Long Incubation) plates for the determination of the total cell count (storage at 15-25°C)
• in 90 mm standard plates for the determination of the total cell count (storage at 4-12°C)
• in bottles and tubes for Pour-Plate-Method and maintenance of stock cultures

Liquid Media

• in a selection of bottles and tubes for enrichment cultures
