An internally quenched fluorogenic peptide substrate designed from wild-type β-APP (β-amyloid precursor protein) sequence that selectively detects BACE1 (β-secretase 1), BACE2, and cathepsin D. Cleavage occurs between Met-Asp residues, which results in fluorescence enhancement. Also useful for screening of inhibitors for BACE1, BACE2, and cathepsin D.
