      DescriptionMouse monoclonal antibody generated by immunizing Balb/c mice with the specified immunogen and fusing splenocytes with P3x3Ag8.653 mouse myeloma cells. Supplied as diluted ascites. Recognizes the ~150, ~125, ~90, and ~70 kDa forms of calpastatin.
      BackgroundCalpastatin is a specific endogenous inhibitor of calpain that has an internal repeat of four homologous domains which allow it to inhibit multiple calpain molecules simultaneously. It functions by binding to calpain when calpain binds Ca2+. When calpastatin is subjected to proteolytic digestion, fragments of calpastatin as small as 15 kDa still retain inhibitory activity.
