      DescriptionAnti-RGS11 (CT) Antibody
      Alternate Names
      • Regulator of G-protein signaling 11
      • RGS11
Background InformationRegulator of G-protein signaling 11 (RGS11) is a multidomain GTPase containing one each of DEP, RGS, and G-protein gamma domains. Like other members of the R7 RGS family, RGS11 uses these domains to form multisubunit complexes, which process the light responses of retinal cells. RGS11 interacts with the RGS9 anchor protein (R9AP) and the 5 G-protein beta subunit (Gbeta5) to form a trimeric complex that regulates the activity of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 6 (mGluR6) in ON-bipolar cells. The RGS11 complex hydrolyzes GTP and inactivates the G-protein Galphao, which is activated by mGluR6 in dark environments. By this mechanism, the RGS11 complex accelerates the light response in ON-bipolar retinal cells.
