      Recombinant, human fibroblast growth factor 5 (FGF-5) consisting of amino acids 23-268 and expressed in E. coli with an N-terminal methionine and two substitutions: Lys238Asn and Pro245Ser. Human and murine FGF-5 exhibit cross species activity and the murine homoloque of FGF-5, at the amino acid sequence level, is found to be 84% homologous to the human protein.
