      BackgroundSTAT (signal transducer and activation of transcription) factors are central components of signaling cascades triggered by cytokine receptors. STAT6 is activated in response to IL-4, and it plays a central role in exerting IL-4 mediated biological responses. STAT6 is phosphorylated on Tyr641 in response to ligand stimulation via receptor-associated Janus Kinases (JAKs).
