A lipophilic, non-toxic water-soluble styrylpyridinium green fluoroprobe that is useful for staining active recycling synaptic vesicles. Also useful for studying endocytosis and in identifying cell membrane boundaries. The compound is non-fluorescent in aqueous solution but becomes fluorescent when incorporated into the plasma membrane. Reversible, photostable material that does not diffuse out of internalized vesicles. Can also be used in combination with the SynaptoRed™ Reagent (Cat. No. 574799) to image plasma membranes independently in two colors.
