Biochem/physiol Actions

ヘムの酸化形であるヘミンは、さまざまなタンパク質群の鉄含有補欠分子族です。溶血後にヘモグロビンから放出されることがある遊離ヘムは炎症誘発性を有し、鉄由来の活性酸素種に寄与します。遊離ヘミン・レベルは、さまざまな病理学的状態で上方制御されることがあり、血管障害、腎不全、免疫媒介性障害などのさまざまな炎症状態を引き起こします。

ヘミンは、ヘム・オキシゲナーゼ1 (HO-1)の発現と抑制およびHO-1活性の研究に使用できます。 ヘマチンは、インフルエンザ菌の増殖に必要な「X因子」です。
