Application
以下の用途に、Staphylococcus aureus（黄色ブドウ球菌）のペプチドグリカンが使用されています：
- リンパ球の刺激に：ペプチドグリカンは、哺乳類細胞に存在するtoll様受容体2（TLR2）を活性化します。これはポリ(I:C)のアンタゴニストとして働きます。
- 唯一の検体に腹腔内接種することによるg型リゾチーム刺激のため
- リン酸塩緩衝液生理食塩水の溶液にして、Labeo rohita（ロフー）の幼魚に注入し、ヌクレオチド結合オリゴマー形成ドメイン2（NOD-2）遺伝子発現に及ぼす影響を研究するため
Biochem/physiol Actions
グラム陽性菌の細胞壁は、主にペプチドグリカンで構成されています。これはペプチド架橋により連結された多糖鎖で構成されています。このペプチドグリカンは細胞壁に一定の剛性をもたらし、細胞に機械的強度を与えます。また、これは発熱に対するサイトカイン産生など免疫反応を刺激することが知られている表面分子です。
