アグリカンは軟骨構造と関節機能の必須成分です。関節損傷、関節疾患、加齢に伴う軟骨の変性におけるアグリカンの合成と分解の役割についての研究がされています。
Biochem/physiol Actions
この構造分子は、硬質ながら可逆的に変形可能で圧縮に強いゲルを作ります。ヒアルロン酸との結合により、極めて大型の高分子複合体を生成し、流体力学的容積が増加し、溶液の相対粘度が顕著に増加（30～40%）します。

アグリカンは軟骨細胞外マトリックスの主骨格プロテオグリカンです。分子量が 2,500 kDa 以上の大型のプロテオグリカンです。約 100～150 kDa のグリコサミノグリカン鎖がコアタンパク質に結合しています。グリコサミノグリカン鎖の大半はコンドロイチン／デルマタン硫酸です。アグリカンには 3 つの球状ドメイン(G1、G2、G3)が含まれ、これらが凝集、ヒアルロン酸結合、細胞接着、軟骨細胞アポトーシスなどに関与します。
Preparation Note
本製品は関節軟骨から抽出され、化学的に精製され、水に対して透析され、凍結乾燥の前に0.2 μmフィルターでろ過されます。 この粉末は、凍結乾燥すると基本的に無塩になります。 本製品は2 mg/mLで水に溶けます。
