General description
紅藻（Rhodophyceae）のagarocyteから寒天（A型）が抽出されます。多糖類の複合体であり、中性のゲル化画分であるアガロースと非ゲル化画分であるアガロペクチンからなります。A型寒天は熱可逆性ゲルを生成し、植物細胞培養に最も適しています。
Application
A型寒天は、以下の用途に使用されています：
- Arabidopsis thaliana（シロイヌナズナ）の金属感受性変異株の金属（メタロイド）に関連した表現型判定を行うため
- Arabidopsis thalianaの種子を培養するためのムラシゲ・スクーグ（MS）培地の成分として
- Agrobacterium rhizogenesを介した根の形質転換用にCicer arietinum L.（ヒヨコマメ）の種子を培養するため
