General description
CGRP (Calcitonin gene-related peptide) belongs to calcitonin family and is expressed mainly in the central and peripheral nervous systems. It is a strong endogenous vasodilator. CGRP concentration increases in migraine attacks and hence, it is involved in the pathogenesis of migraine headaches . Monoclonal anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide antibody can be used in immunoneutralization and radioimmunoassay. Mouse anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide antibody reacts specifically with an epitope present within the C-terminal ten amino acids of rat α-CGRP and also has shown cross reactivity with α and β-CGRP of humans and dogs.
Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a vasodilator that belongs to the calcitonin family of peptides. It is produced by motor neurons of peripheral and central nervous system. There are two forms of CGRP, α and β, which exhibit similar functions. The effects of CGRP are mediated by G-protein coupled receptor heterodimer formed by calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CRLR) and receptor-activity-modifying protein 1 (RAMP1). Several biological effects of CGRP are observed in nervous, endocrine, immune and cardiovascular systems. Multiple studies have implicated CGRP in the pathophysiology of migraine and antagonists to CGRP are being explored as treatment options
Monoclonal Anti-Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) recognizes rat α-CGRP. The antibody cross-reacts with human and dog α- and β-CGRP.

Immunogen
rat α-CGRP peptide. The epitope recognized by the antibody resides within the C-terminal ten amino acids of rat α-CGRP.
Application
Monoclonal anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide antibody can be used in immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry. It can also be used in ELISA.
Anti-Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) antibody is suitable for ELISA at a working concentration of 0.25- 0.5 μg/ml. The antibody may be used for immunofluorescence at a working dilution of 1:100 in rat nerve fibres and human dorsal root ganglia.

Migraine is a common neurological disorder that is associated with an increase in plasma calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) levels. CGRP, a neuropeptide released from activated trigeminal sensory nerves, dilates intracranial blood vessels and transmits vascular nociception. Therefore, it is propounded
