General description
ハプトグロブリンは急性期タンパク質の 1 種で血液循環中に放出されたヘモグロビンを捕捉します。血漿タンパク質でヘモグロビンに高い結合親和性を持つハプトグロブリンは主に肝臓中で発現します。
ハプトグロブリンは通常の血漿中に 82～236 mg/dL 濃度で見出される α2-グロブリンの 1 種で全血漿タンパク質中の 0.4～2.6%含まれています。この急性期血漿タンパク質の単量体構造は 4 つのポリペプチド鎖からなっています：2 つの α 鎖と 2 つの β 鎖です。
Application
ハプトグロブリンは精液中の先体反応の誘導についての研究で用いられました。低温への暴露は透明帯フリーハムスター卵母細胞との融合率を増加させます。
Biochem/physiol Actions
血漿中ヘモグロビン（溶血反応による）に結合することで機能します。鉄を回収し、および酸化的損傷を防ぐため、複合体はマクロファージ上の CD163 受容体に結合することにより循環系から排除されます。
Other Notes
ハプトグロビンの表現型は大きく3種類に分かれています(1-1型、2-1型、2-2型)。
