凝集活性は、1 mg/mL溶液をPBS(pH 6.8)で段階希釈して測定し、μg/mLの単位で表します。凝集活性は、25°Cで 1時間インキュベートした場合、ヒトO型赤血球の2%懸濁液を凝集させる最低濃度で示されます。
Biochem/physiol Actions
ハリエニシダ凝集素は血液型H抗原に対する特異性があります。ハリエニシダ由来のレクチンには2種類あり、UEA IはL-フコ-スに親和性を有し、UEA IIはN,N′-ジアセチルキトビオ-スに親和性を有しています。UEA Iの分子量は当初170,000ダルトンとされていました。後の報告で、UEA Iが中性および塩基性のpHで凝集体を形成し、正確な分子量は68,000 ダルトンであることが示されました。
