Application
ヒポタウリンは、in vitro受精や胚発生の評価に使用される、受精培地（Fert-タイロードアルブミン乳酸ピルビン酸（TALP））における添加剤として使用されています。また、H2Sスカベンジャーとしても使用されます。
Biochem/physiol Actions
ヒドロキシルラジカルと結合する抗酸化剤です。ストリキニ-ネとピクロトキシンによってブロックされる内在性の抑制性神経モジュレ-タ-です。GABAとβ-アラニンのNa2+依存性輸送を阻害します。システインの分解物であり、タウリンの前駆体です。
シスタミン類縁体であるヒポタウリンは、タウリン合成の前駆体です。抗酸化剤や一重項酸素スカベンジャーとして作用し、細胞を酸化的ダメージから保護します。ヒポタウリンは、精子運動の維持と刺激においてや、in vitro受精や胚発生において重要な役割を果たすことが報告されています。
