General description
ニワトリは大量のIgY（IgG）を卵黄へ移しますから、卵から抗体を収穫することによって侵襲的（採血）方法を使用する必要がありません。一週間経過後の卵には週一度の割合で採血するウサギの血よりも10倍以上の抗体を含むことがあります。
ただし、ある種のニワトリ由来の抗体を免疫アッセイに使用と不都合が生ずる場合があります。′ニワトリIgYは哺乳類補体成分C1を固定しませんから、標準溶液を使用して沈降抗体としては機能しません。
