General description

炭酸プロピレンはプロピレン酸化物とCO2から合成できます。炭酸プロピレンの光学活性体は、CO2とラセミエポキシド間の反応により調製できます。リチウム電池内のグラファイト電極上での炭酸プロピレンの分解により、リチウムがインターカレートした化合物を生成します。
炭酸プロピレンは環状炭酸塩であり、通常、溶媒としておよび有機合成における反応中間体として利用されます。低蒸気圧、高誘電定数および高い化学的安定性から、潜在的な電気化学的溶媒であると考えられています。
