アミノプテリンは、抗ニューログラニン抗体の産生に使用されています。

Biochem/physiol Actions

アミノプテリンは、増殖、胚発生を阻害することが認められており、マウスモデルにおいて毒性作用を示します。堕胎薬として機能します。アミノプテリンは、小児における急性白血病の影響を軽減することが知られています。
ジヒドロ葉酸還元酵素に結合し、その活性を阻害する葉酸拮抗薬。
葉酸アンタゴニスト。アミノプテリンは葉酸トランスポ-タ-によって細胞へ能動輸送されます。細胞で葉酸ポリグルタミン酸シンタ-ゼにより高分子量のポリグルタミン酸代謝物に変換され、これがジヒドロ葉酸レダクタ-ゼと結合し、その活性を阻害します。アミノプテリン-ポリグルタミン酸は、細胞内でγ-グルタミルヒドロラ-ゼにより分解されます。
