L-芳香族アミノ酸デカルボキシラーゼに対する末梢インヒビターです。L-DOPAと同時投与された場合、ドーパミンへのCNS外変換を妨げることにより、有効成分のCNS濃度を上昇させます。活性酸素種に感受性を示すことから、細胞株中のH2O2量を増加させることによって、ヒト肺カルチノイドと肺小細胞癌に対して選択的細胞毒性を示します。
