インドール-3-カルビノールは、キャベツ、カリフラワー、芽キャベツなどのアブラナ科の野菜で産生される、新規の植物二次代謝物です。
Application
インドール-3-カルビノールは、上皮乳腺腺がん（MCF7）細胞、上皮大腸腺がん（Caco2）細胞、上皮前立腺がん（PC3）細胞に及ぼすin-vitro抗発がん作用を研究するための乳酸-グリコール酸共重合体（PLGA）によるカプセル化に使用されています。また、シトクロムP4501A（CYP1A）誘発因子としても使用されています。
Biochem/physiol Actions
インドール-3-カルビノール（I3C）はアリル炭化水素受容体（AhR）を活性化し、G1細胞周期の停止とアポトーシスを誘導します。したがって、強力な抗がん剤として作用します。さらに、シトクロムP450酵素を刺激することにより、エストラジオール代謝も誘導します。したがって、I3Cは乳がん、前立腺がん、大腸がん、白血病など、さまざまな種類のがんに対する強力な化学療法剤であると考えられています。
開始段階で発がんを阻害します。いくつかの動物種で発がんを阻害することが示されていますが、開始後の段階で投与すると腫瘍発現率が高まります。 アブラナ科の野菜に認められます。
