General description

レチニル酢酸塩は、ビタミンAの天然エステル誘導体です。M-199、NCTC-109、およびWilliam′s培地Eなどの従来培地の処方に含まれています。ビタミンAは、ビタミンAがある程度添加された血清添加細胞培養系の大半で有用な血清成分です。

Application

酢酸レチニルは、高速液体クロマトグラフィー分析（HPLC）でビタミンC濃度を測定するための標準物質として、また完全培地の調製における栄養補助剤として用いられてきました。

Biochem/physiol Actions

レチノールの酸化型はレチノイン酸で、レチノイン酸はホルモン様増殖因子を有し、上皮細胞や関連細胞、特に神経細胞に対して分化活性を示します。レチノイン酸は胚性幹細胞の神経細胞への分化を誘導します。レチニル酢酸塩は、乳癌の治療に有効であることが知られています。

Preparation Note

この物質の融点は約58°Cです。封入時に融解しているため、結晶性固体または過冷却粘性液体として存在している場合があります。
