Increase Volatility, Sensitivity and Detectibility


For analysis by gas chromatography, many samples, such as readily decomposed substances or those with low volatility, can only be investigated after their conversion to stable, volatile derivatives. Besides increasing sample volatility, derivatization reactions also improve the sensitivity of detection and enhance detectibility.
