Promotes a time- and concentration-dependent proliferation of aortic smooth muscle cells via specific activation of p44 MAP kinase. Also stimulates Ras-GTP loading, MEK and Raf kinases, p44 MAP kinase, and c-fos expression in human aortic smooth muscle cells.
