POU6F1 is a nuclear transcription factor that binds preferentially to a variant of the octamer motif (5'-ATGATAAT-3'). POU6F1 is expressed exclusively in the developing embryonic brain, while in adults it is found in brain, heart, skeletal muscle and lung.
