ダルベッコ改変イーグル培地（DME）は基礎培地イーグル（BME）の改変型で、アミノ酸やビタミン、その他の補足成分の濃度が4倍になってます。′′マウス胚性細胞の培養で初めて報告された最初のDME組成は、グルコース含有量が1,000 mg/Lでした。
