DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~60 kDa MMP-II pro-enzyme and the ~47 kDa active enzyme.
BackgroundMatrix metalloproteinases are believed to play an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. The stromelysin-3 (MMP-11) gene is expressed specifically in stromal cells surrounding invasive breast carcinomas. The product of this gene is a member of the family of metalloproteinases enzymes that degrade the extracellular matrix. Human stromelysin-3 is localized by in situ hybridization to the long arm of chromosome 22. MMP-11 expression is found more specifically in malignant tumors than in benign ones.
