      DescriptionRecombinant, human brain drived neurotrophic factor expressed in E. coli. Promotes survival and growth of neurons in the central nervous system. Sequence analysis indicates that brain derived neurotrophic factor is structurally and functionally related to nerve growth factor. mRNA for brain derived neurotrophic factor is found predominantly in the central nervous system, whereas mRNA for nerve growth factor is also found in many non-CNS tissues.
